And the Wine Awards for Falkner Winery Keep On Coming
Recent wine competitions show that Quality is the word to attach to the description of wines at Temecula Valley’s Falkner Winery. At the prestigious Critics Challenge International Wine Competition, several top medals were awarded to three of the Falkner wines. What makes this competition so prestigious is that the only judges are wine critics from California and elsewhere in the United States.
Most wines entered win no awards due to the strict judging process; only Silver, Gold, and Platinum medals (top award) are awarded. Both the Falkner 2006 Syrah-Rock Creek Vineyard ($26.95) and the Falkner 2009 Sauvignon Blanc ($18.95) received Platinum awards making them the only Platinum awards going out to a Southern California winery. Falkner’s 2006 Meritage-Bordeaux Blend ($39.95) also received a Gold Medal. Plus, the world-wide esteemed food and wine organization, La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, is hosting their 50th Anniversary for their U.S. operations this year in San Diego and selected the Gold Medal winning 2005 Falkner Amante ($39.95) as the only Southern California wine to add to their California wine event on Friday, October 22nd.
The Falkner wine will be tasted with other great central and northern California wines that evening. And…if that was not enough, the Falkner 2009 Rosato (rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon) received a “Best of Class Gold Medal” at the recent Pacific Rim International Wine Competition and a “Chairman’s Award Gold” at the Riverside International Wine Competition.
While awards are not new to this boutique Temecula winery, these recent awards highlight the top quality that Falkner Winery is in the business of producing. According to co-owner Ray Falkner, “We are pleased with the competition results and believe our wines are some of the best deals of southern California wineries”. Priced at $14.95, the Rosato wine is affordable for all wine lovers.
All of these wonderful wines are made by winemaker Steve Hagata with a “food-friendly, soft” style that are easy to drink and complement food extremely well. All wines are available in the winery tasting room, via the internet at www.falknerwinery.com, or in various retailers and restaurants in California and Arizona. More information on purchasing these wines is also available by calling the winery at 951-676-8231.
Another reason for our great, consistent style is our willingness to continue to age our Temecula wines until we believe they meet our style and are very “drinkable”. Most of our Temecula CA red wines age at least 3 years before public release. We encourage you to visit our Temecula tasting room.
Located in Temecula Valley Wine Country, Falkner Temecula winery also prides itself on producing great blended wines. Wine such as the Falkner Amante™ is an example of a great Super Tuscan Style red wine that blends together the great flavors of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
Another Falkner great blend is the Bordeaux Style Meritage which is a robust blend of estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. If you enjoy a touch of sweetness in your wine, try our Luscious Lips red wine or our Sweet Loretta or Riesling white wines. Sweet or dry, you will be happy with any of our hand-crafted Temecula wines.
